U.S. Census Profile

Tucked in the picturesque southeastern corner of Hamilton County between, the fertile area of Anderson Township was adopted by settlers who worked hard to create a new community in the late 1700s. Their investment became the foundation for today’s Anderson residents to realize their own American Dreams.

Development of businesses operating alongside the river spans the centuries. Most notable and enduring are Coney Island waterpark (originally called Parker’s Grove in 1870) and River Downs (now Belterra Park) which grew as fun seekers boarded the Island Queen for a day on the riverfront. In 1984, Riverbend Music Center, Cincinnati’s premier outdoor concert venue, opened in between these longstanding venues, and in 2008 a smaller center, PNC Pavilion, opened next door.

Today on the same waterfront, new life is being breathed into the area through the Kellogg Entertainment District project which will transform and beautify the entire district, from Anderson Township to the City of Cincinnati.

In 2023, the Entertainment District interchange project will begin the spark of change, evidenced by sweeping plantings designed in colorful displays. New LED lighting will create safety and interest in the underside of the overpass at the interchange.

Future projects to enhance the riverfront will upgrade safety, traffic flow and the appearance of the corridor. New signage will help visitors find their destinations and dramatic art elements and landscaping will enhance visual interest to the corridor.

As the doorway to Anderson Township, this regional entertainment center is poised to welcome more and more visitors along the shores of the Ohio River. As generations come and go, the Ohio River welcomes all to its banks in beautiful Anderson Township.
